"Erdogan is our nation's leader, Vucic is our state leader, this is the greatest day for us Muslims to have them both here", Ismail Ismailovic, 28, from the nearby town of Tutin, farmer, sporting long beard and white embroidered Muslim skull cap.

The development comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that Ankara did not see Bass as the U.S. representative in Turkey, adding that he should be dismissed if he was behind the decision to suspend visa services in Turkey.

He noted that crisis in Turkey-US relations will not affect military cooperation between the two countries. However, Belgrade and Ankara, which both want to join the European Union but are frustrated by the slow pace of progress, are keen to increase bilateral trade.

He said he wanted the trade exchange to be worth between $3 billion and $5 billion.

"The offender in this problem is the United States of America itself", Erdogan told a news conference in Belgrade, Serbia.

The two countries signed a total number of 12 bilateral agreements, including a revision of the free trade agreement between Serbia and Turkey.

"This is not 1389, but 2017", Vucic said, referring to the year when the Ottoman occupation of Serbia started.

Speaking alongside his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, he mentioned Turkey's efforts against the FETO network in the wake of the July 15, 2016 defeated coup attempt.

He also said that Turkey is willing to cooperate with Serbia in all areas.
